What the study explores

Connect vehicle functions

Sensor fusion, semantic processing, localization, and decision/control are considered within the vehicle software architecture.

Consider redundancy and a reference path

The paper proposes a fail-operational design with two high-performance ECUs and a lower-performance reference ECU, examining voting and function allocation.

Explain architectural decisions

Component deployment, ASIL decomposition, and dependencies are analyzed alongside performance and resources. Production validation and timing-partition scheduling are outside the reported analysis.

Questions for today’s AI safety work

The study provides a starting point for discussing AI function boundaries, allocation of safety requirements, monitoring limitations, and verification evidence. This is a retrospective connection to ISO/PAS 8800:2024, not a claim that the research demonstrates conformance.
